About Us

Yellow Hearts Cancer Support, Gorey was founded in 2024 with a simple yet powerful mission: to provide support for those affected by cancer in the Gorey area and its surrounding communities. It all started when a small group of people in Coolgreany gathered to discuss the need for such a charity. Over many cups of tea, they realized the growing demand for local cancer support services, and thus, the idea for Yellow Hearts Cancer Support, Gorey was born.

A few months later, the group hosted an interest evening in Gorey to gauge community support. Despite the evident gap in local cancer support services, the group wanted to ensure the community was truly on board. The response was overwhelming—at our first gathering at Loch Garman Arms, we were thrilled to see a large crowd eager to discuss the future of the charity. Thanks to the generosity of Mick from Loch Garman Arms, we were able to continue meeting regularly at the venue, where we also began hosting bi-weekly coffee mornings open to everyone.

As our efforts gained momentum, we formed a volunteer board and a board of directors to officially establish Yellow Hearts Cancer Support, Gorey as a registered charity. We collaborated with various local cancer specialists and organizations to ensure we could offer the best support possible. Alongside our preparations to become a fully established charity, we continued organizing coffee mornings, free family events, specialized showcase evenings, and informational talks—all designed to raise awareness and provide much-needed support.

Today, we are proud to be a registered charity and are excited to continue growing our services to better serve the local community. At Yellow Hearts Cancer Support, Gorey, we are committed to offering practical support, a caring network, and a welcoming space for everyone impacted by cancer.

We look forward to the future and to making a lasting difference in the lives of those who need it most. Thank you for being a part of our journey.
